I’ll take BSC over many of the other malls that seem
to be cropping up these days. And I can bet you that
anyone who lives in Bangsar will tell you that they
would be quite lost without BSC.
I love how BSC has evolved along with the population
of Bangsar. It’s like a microcosm of life in the Bangsar
community: contemporary and discerning, yet warm
and welcoming.
Back in 1990, when I was still with Guardian
Pharmacy, we had an idea that was considered fairly
novel at that time: marrying a pharmacy with a beauty
store and a bookshop. We thought it was something
that a newly affluent community like Bangsar
would appreciate. We were a little apprehensive
about broaching the idea to BRDB but they were
unbelievably supportive. 24 years later, Guardian
Pharmacy is still thriving in BSC.
I’m no longer with Guardian Pharmacy so my work
visits to Bangsar have now taken on a social and
leisure flavour. I shop at Jason’s and catch up with
friends and family at one of the many cafes and
restaurants... any excuse, really.
